Anybody have any good recommendations on webhosting/server space companies?

I'm looking to get some server space on the net for a personal webpage and to upload files to make available for others...

I just signed up with www.myotherdrive.com. Got the 25 Gig for $19.99 a year. It is not compatible with Moto Q's so you would have to use it on your computer only. There are ads in the free but they taking the ads out of the Pro version in February. The emails I have sent have always been answered. Hope this helps. Going to try to play with it more this weekend but they have made it very easy to link to forums and in emails.

they are fantastic!

have plans as low as 4.99 a month
i have this plan

i get 120gigs of storage
1200 email address
5 sudomains

and they actually have really good tech support

i currently use IX... their good but not as cheap as the previously mentioned, i don't know by memory what they exactly offer.. i have ~8 sub-domains running, bunch of email addresses. for a simple web site and some storage i say it's overkill...

$5.77 a month, 1.5 TB, 15 TB bandwidth, free domain name, unlimited mailboxes, unlimited domains, 75 MySQL Databases

Plenty of room for everything you might need. It's serious overkill.

The drawbacks are the occasional downtime (once a month, couple hours).

I've been happy with them for well more than 2 years.

On another note, Avoid Hostexcellence.com. We hosted my wife's page there and she was bombarded with Spam, her site was down for days at a time, it was a nightmare getting it cancelled. Horrible service.

@ LuvrGirl....I recommended www.myotherdrive.com to you and I am reneging on that recommendation. I just asked questions thru email but never really tried their service. I didn't mind downloading software to use the server but I don't think when someone clicks on a link that "THEY" should have to download software to view a photo.

Please don't even consider it. Going to check out RB's, NHockey's, Der Alta's recommendations instead this weekend.

Now have to try to get my money back. (It's always something!)

i think i advised Geekster of godaddy, their pretty good also.
