So is McCain smart or is he brain dead? He picks a vice president he met twice in is life. I take this as a way to win the female vote. Talk is cheap.

He's brain dead. I think it's a cheap shot. I doubt that female democrats will fall for this.
I wonder who they think would take care of that poor baby?

Many female democrats will fall for this. There are so many of them bitter about Hillary losing. They are acting like spoiled high school brats with a ridiculous sense of entitlement. They actually said they will vote Republican just because Hillary lost. They would rather be spitefull and doom this country to four more years of Republican rule. All their claims of sexism are so overblown and transparent. Dont get me wrong, I'm not drinking the Obama kool aid either, but these disgruntled Democrats need to grow up and get a life.

I liked Hillary. I said I said I'd vote for McCain if she lost but since trhen Obama has grown on me. Not so much for anything but McCains constant "attacks". While, for the most part, Obama has been "preaching" positivaty McCain has gone for some pretty nasty atacks. He's also gome way more too the right than I think he'd be comfortable with. As a reporter siad a few months ago

<snip> the John McCain of 2002 wouldn't vote for this McCain in 2008
.

As far as his VP choice I really don't think, at least I hope, he believes Hillary supporters are that daft.
As a side note an Abstainance supporter who's 17 year old daughter gets pregnant doesn't speak well for teaching abstainance. You'd think it would be an issue.

I think the pick was brilliant. anyone who thinks the entrée to selecting Palin was to get the Hillary votes, is misinformed. Was it partially that- maybe? He did it to shore up the base, and it has worked for me. I'm not jazzed about McCain, but I was going to protest vote for him because Obama is so incompetent. That said; GWB isn't conservative enough for my liking, and we now have "something" conservative to vote for on the Republican ticket. 1.5 years as a Governor is way more experience than 143 days in the U.S. Senate. The last legislator that was elected President was JFK, and unfortunately this streak will be broken, but it says a lot about why "administrators" have been better candidates for Federal Executive Branch duty than lawmakers. Just my $0.02.

"Never talk politics or religion". But I have to ask

How is Obama incompetent?
And how did McCain picking Palin "shore up" support with you?

Sarah Palin:

1. Currently Under Investiagation for Abuse of Power - hired a private attorney as of Yesterday.

2. Daughter is 17, pregnant and kepping the baby and intends to marry the father. There is widespread speculation that Gov. Palin's 2 year old baby actually belongs to her daughter as well. Hardly the picture of conservative america.

3. Gov. Palin was a member of the Alaskan Independence Party, prior to becoming a republican, a party that advocates Alaskan secession from the union.

Several members of the McCain campaign were heard saying Sunday that Sarah Palin was not who "John" wanted, that he wanted "Joe" or "Ridge" according to the NY Times.

Noone in the Alaskan State Legislature was contacted regarding Sarah Palin in any kind of vetting process.

The McCain vetting Team for Sarah Plain arrived in Alaska 3 days prior to the announcement of her nomination.

McCain offered her the job in their second meeting this year, their third ever lifetime (the one non-campaign meeting coming during a Governor's Covention a few years ago).

John McCain is trying to play to the disgruntled Hillary vote with this and it is sad that he felt it was appropriate to put this inexperienced woman a heartbeat from the Presidency in the event that his 73 year old ticker fails sometime in the next 4-8 years.

I'm not sure that's the kind of judgement that we can survive any more of.

Obama is an incompetent executive leader- frankly, he's never had an executive role (neither has McCain, with the exception of any committees he has chaired). Obama has chaired one committee, and it met 0 times. Go figure! So I'd say he's had no executive experience, and barely and legislative (which doesn't count in my opinion because they are two totally different jobs). We are electing an executive branch official (not legislative or judicial) in the U.S. President election, aren't we?

I'm shored up with the Palin pick because McCain is no conservative (traditionally), and Palin, while she won't be the president, I hope will have some conservative influence on McCain. She is as conservative as I wanted/ hoped GWB would be, but his spending and policy on immigration biffed that for me! Obama's change desire went out the window with Joe "nice hair" Biden. I'm elated that Palin is not from Washington or anywhere near.
