Default Verizon Pantech PN-820 Smartphone

I just got this phone for my wife because it was free from Verizon. It has WM 5
It's not bad but is No Q that's for sure!!!

Anyways, I have been able to get a couple programs on it and working well... like TCPMP, as well as creating a new custom Homescreen Layouts for her.....

BUT...the biggest annoyances that may be a deal breaker for me, are.....

1- the keypad light goes off in just 3 seconds w/ no settings options to increase that whatsoever!!!!!h!!

2- he front LCD has the same exact problem, but atleast you don't need to see it because you need to know what number you're dialing!!

So... I wanted to ask any members here if they have had this phone before or know someone who has this phone, ......and has heard of a registry hack to be able to increase these timeout settings?

Did a general Google search (Pantech PN-820 Smartphone Hacks) & found this but I didn't read through it to check out the hacks....
Hope it helps..

Thanks Geekster... I already had gone thru most of those and other forums as well, including one with our very own Pony99CA (Steve).... but all to no avail. I'm so spoilt with my Q that this PN-820 felt like working with a stone-age smartphone!!!

Anyways, looks like I might be returning this and getting her another, more basic phone.

Dang..was hoping that there was something there. It's frustrating that something could work better if only the creators took it "one more step". Don't blame you for returning it. If it frustrates you then not worth keeping.
Let me know what you get b/c I'm nosey!

Sure will ........ Nosey!...

One other thing about this WM5 smartphone is that it doesn't come with a taskmanager..WTF were they thinking??? I can get the free WM5 TaskManager freeware, but that will require for me to install the Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0...

Avoid this phone and and Pantech at all costs!!!!!!!

This phone had all kinds of glitches and it ended up freezing on the Windows Mobile startup screen...even though the phone was on, it wouldn't come out of that screen. No option to master reset...so I'll be getting her a regular cell phone, probably a SamSung. The smartphone concept was way over her head anyways LOL, but the problems compounded her hatred for so-called smartphone technology...

Anyways, just thought I'd warn anyone who might be looking at this phone. Don't get it...

Get her the new enV that is coming out this month.
Pantech is pretty good, but that phone never did well in sales...good concept and if they followed it up, it could be a great phone for people that just want outlook synchro with their phones and thats it.

Thanks for the suggestion Bro. My son-in-law has an EnV, but I think my wife won't like it, she was complaining about all the extras on the Pantech already, so I'm getting her the LG 8350...that'll be perfect for her non-techno brain..LOL She just likes her electronics as simple as can be.
