not that its important or anything ,but in my opinion, dont you think that all of the different size USB's there are(or will be) kinda defeats the purpose of the "universal" in USB?
meh, the wiring is all the same, the size is just different to fit into different devices
Any way the universal is referring to the fact that any kind of device can be plugged into a PC using USB (rather than having to use a parallel port for a printer and a serial port for a camera, and a PS/2 port for a mouse and keyboard and so on)
Now they all use a similar transmission standard and can be plugged into any USB port on the back of your PC. Part of the original idea was to have a whole bunch of USB ports on a PC and nothing else. you could plug anything in anywhere and it would work.
Damn Paco! " i was just sayin",i kinda knew the were the same. but you really broke it down for me! seriously, that was some really technical shiznit man! thanks dude!
Since I apparently missed the edit, thanks rb!
Sprint also tried that years ago, for a while most of their phones could use two different chargers: the manufacturer's charger, and a "standard" Sprint charger. Worked well for me, I used the same charger for 5 years until I got my Q. My wife now uses it since many of Sprint's dumb phones still use that setup.
