I guess it depends on the cost of the tickets and fallout vs. the cost of the lawyer.
Just thought I'd throw that out there for you to ponder. |
My husband has helped out a few of our clients in traffic court before. Most attorneys don't charge too much for this (unless it was DUI...then it can be considered a criminal matter). Most charge about $200.00 (hubby charges less if they are clients of ours). Attorney fee is one time deal...Points stay on you licence for 36 - 40 months, and the insurance company will charge accordingly. (Most personal auto policies are written on 6 month basis, so you get jammed twice a year until this is off...)Taking the 6 hour Accident Prevention class will help lower the points. (Some states...not NY...will let you take this class on-line. Website is

Call you insurance COMPANY (not agent) directly, and tell them that you need a "Coverage Letter" showing there was insurance on that vehicle. In NY, letter must show VIN # and list the SPECIFIC day of the ticket. It must also state that there was continuous coverage, with no lapses. Again, in NY, the court will not take a copy of this letter, nor a faxed copy. Must be original from the Insurance Company. If you have problem getting insurance company info, let me know & I'll get it for you.
Good luck!
