Favorite Slingbox

i would like one but (still) not sure if i want to spend the $$ on it... i wondered about this though, not taken in to consideration that you can change channels and all that cool stuff, if i would get a Slingbox and hook it up to my home tv... would it be possible for other people (for instance people i know in the Netherlands) to watch my tv ? and if so... is it possible with the software to give people access to watch but not to change stations ?

(just peeked on eBay, but no real wow-have-to-have prices :]

I use my Slingbox all the time. To access the slingbox your friends would need to have the slingplayer software installed on their PC or phone. They could then access your Slingbox with your ID and Password. I do not think you can limit to view only. The only other piece Im unsure of is how many people can access at once. Not sure if both you and they could acccess at the same time.

Do you need a specific type of TV card for Orb?

I asked that questiuon about the Slingbox before. If you start watching other can apparently join in and watch, but they cant change the channel. If you want them to be able to do that, you need more thatn one Slingbox and another cablebox to use it on.

I need to check there site then. I have the AverMedia TV Tuner Cardbus (Whitebox edition) that I use with my laptop. I got it off TigerDirect about a year ago. (just really starting to use it). It works very every with WMC and it even comes with its own software that works very well.

I actually have a Slingbox and I havent hooked it up yet. I need the box or connector for it, since my router is upstairs and my TV is in the basment.

HAHAH. My wife has been using the SprintTV hack on her Mogul, but she really wants to be able to watch cable from her phone. I'm off wrok from the 23rd until the 2nd of Jan. So I will have some time (and hopefully, money) then to get it setup.
