Default Polipos virus please help

help my computer has a the polipos virus its infecting random files for example it infected outlook wordpad notepad microsof works sonic(dvd burner) windows media player ..it keeps infecting random files so then my antivirus detects the virus in thoses files and move them to the vault then i can not use them unless i reinstall all of them does any 1 know of a removal tool or how to get rid of this thing thanx have a good day

did you try AVG ? they have a free version... or look in the thread Geek just started.. here..

yes that is what i am using right noe the free version of avg it detects polipos but doesnt seem to go away

Try this..
then post your results on line & they will help you to get rid of it...

Or try on of the on-line scanners & see if one of those helps you.

And, thinking about it for a minute...I think there might be a left over .dll. Look up the virus on line if you can & find out what kind of files it dumps on your computer. That might help you isolate the d*mn thing too.

F-disk removes viruses very effectively.

Is AVG able to heal the virii instead of quarentining them?

Did you get your pc fixed? Able to re-install your programs & save your back-ups? One other thing you might want to do too. If you have system restore turned on the virus could lurk in there as well. Turn it off and re-boot to "flush" out the system and then turn it back on and create a restore point.
