Default Pinger text and voice messaging

Has anyone tried Pinger? It looks like a neat service for texting groups of people at once and leaving a way for them to then hear a voicemail message. I am going to try it for my youth group as a way of updating the kids on events. it's free now, but we'll see if pinger keep it that way. Just curious if anyone has used it or found it useful.

Peace, Mark

I started using Pinger about a year and a half ago. The problem that I had was it really works best when you are Pinging other Pinger users. I could not get others to sign on so I have pretty much abandoned it. I still use it everyonce and a while for those few people that I know use it. I did get a free T-shirt . At one time I was using it alot and I was on a sort of focus group for heavy users. Very nice people to work with. They have some good ideas on where they see the product going. A service like Pinger would be great for emergencies for events such as Virginia Tech. Anyway that is my two cents.

Default Pinger use update

OK, I have been playing with it all morning, here's the scoop. You no longer need to be registered or signed up to receive the messages. If someone (me) is signed up for free, they can message anyone with a text capabilites. That person can then receive the text, call respond to the phone number abnd get the prerecorded message. They can even leave a response.

I see that this will be useful for leaving messages for groups of people. It is really like a group voicemail. I run a youth group so I can now notify all my kids at once via text that there is some information to be disseminated to them. It will also organize your contacts into groups, although adding new members to a group seems a little cumbersome. I would prefer a click and drag add instead of manually entering them.

It is really just glorified voicemail, but if you regularly communicate the smae information to a group, or groups, this is a handy tool for you bag. and it's free.

Just my two cents.

Peace, Mark
