Need Help Photoshop CS3 Extended

i have the feeling i am going to need this thread, worked with Paintshop for the last 10 years (at least) and having issues finding things. and yes i have searched both the PS help as well as Photoshop 101.

found the bucket :}

did i also read something about a "smart" edger in case the border/edge looks unclean so to speak ?

I'm in the same boat as you. I used photo shop way back in High School and these new updated versions left my previous knowledge in the dust. I'll need this forum just as well, if someone could almost give us a brief How to on PS CS3 that way it can get me started and then I'm sure questions will arise...

And P.S. wheres the bucket?

Using the "edger," set the tolerance ratio at the top to set the sensitivity of the selection. A higher number will ignore dirty edges.

0 will select every single pixel on the edge of the selection, resulting in a somewhat rougher edge. 500 will select fewer pixels and result in a smoother but less accurate edge.

Don't know a better way to explain it so let the interrogation begin.

...and in case it matters, Paint Shop and Photoshop are two totally different utilities. Paint Shop's image manipulation tools are kinda mediocre while Photoshop is almost useless for 'drawing' and illustrating.

We have a photography business and use Photoshop almost exclusively since it meets our needs. Use what you NEED.

Probably a stupid question, but how do you bring in multiple images. I initially load 1 image and would like to past other images in the same layer. Is this possible?

I have tried copy/pasting externally, but haven't tried it internally. I'll give this a shot, thanks

yea, when both (or more) pics are open copy & paste.. you can even copy a selection to the other image... neat stuff.

(but even PaintShop Pro could do that kind of stuff so)

We should have photoshop contests

I will lend a hand if anyone has any problems...

As for making a smooth edge, the trick is to make sure that you don't pick up any of the background if possible... especially if it is a dark colored item on a light background.

I recomend using different layers for the background and foreground, and use the eraser in brush mode to get rid of the edge. if it is just a rough edge and the color isnt the problem, use the blur tool on it.
