Could be with the temp files. Had a similar problem a few years back, and clering the temp files, cookies, and history fixed it, if I'm remembering corectly.

So, RB. Now I truly understand how you feel. My sister in law calls today and says her speakers quit working, after her video card quit about a month ago and I told her she needed a new one (she then payed the geek squad $40 to tell her the exact same thing). Apparently she was uninstalling software and went a little crazy. Her device manager says there is no audio driver installed. I tried several different drivers and none worked (no surprise since it's a custom gaming rig). I've washed my hands of it, I left the companies support page on her screen with the phone number showing and went home.
*moral of the story, don't delete something unless you know exactly what it is, which programs need it, and/or how to get a new one when it turns out you actually needed it...*
I hear from her all the time (although not about this problem). She only lives a few blocks away. I don't know if she's given up or not. now she's getting a rumor on my Sprint account so I'll have something new to play tech support on...
