but last year my buddies sister was diagnosed with and received treament for cancer. So far it's all clear, but she goes back in for a screening in June to make sure it's not making a comeback tour. In about a month, she's participating in the Relay for Life in her hometown. For anyone who doesn't know what that is, basically people raise moeny for "teams" and the teams walk, run, or whatever at a track for 24 hours. It's honestly kind of a silly way to raise money imo, but some people are really devoted to it and it's raised a shitload of money in the past. I just thought I'd post this link and ask for any donations if someone's feeling particularly generous. Thanks.

sorry to hear that.. i hope she pulls through. i had the C disease come closer the last 3 months, 1 uncle passed away 5 weeks after they found it, one aunt has just been operated on but it spread too much so nothing else to do then chemo..

Sorry to hear for ya'lls troubles.

Relay for Life is a big deal here in rural West Tennessee. I recently paid $45 for a batch of my mother's chocolate peanut clusters. My Mom is all into the Relay for Life night out. She's a survivor for over 30 years.

I, however, have issues with Relay for Life. Seventy percent of the money (reportedly) raised goes to salaries and other administrative stuff. Still, 30 % is a good deal of money, but it would be better is the salaries were lower so more money is spent on research and treatments.

I understand that the Red Cross is not much better.

I am sorry to hear that. I prefer to give directly to the American Cancer Society, which I do every year. My daughters lost their mother to cancer three years ago. The year before, my father died from cancer, so I feel everyone's pain.

I hope your friend beats it.
