New Flash Drive, What Apps?

So I've just treated myself to a 2gb flash drive as I've been reading a lot about portable apps that can be run from them.

Does anyone have suggestions as which should be the first apps that I load on there?

If your flash drive has U3 installed, I would remove it and use the launcher from PortableApps.com. There are not alot of free programs for U3.

An application dosen't have to be made especially for a USB stick for it to work. Most of the ones I have are not. You just have to experiment with them. If it dosen't work, just delete it. For instance, IE7 won't work on a computer that has never had it installed on before.

Just copy the entire folder structure of a program into the PortableApps folder on the stick. Then delete the uninstall exe and dat files (you won't need them on the USB drive).

In order to do all this, you must have installed the Portable Apps Menu on the USB drive.

After some research I discovered it is simply a way to all you to use the Q to acess programs on any PC. I was really hoping to be able to run a full fledged image editor on the Q. Are there any out there that will allow me to do advanced image editting?
