 |  are these all considered sms out of network? If so, would brightkite eliminate this? Still trying to understand what it does before signing up.

I like it it works in conjunction with but is NOT twitter, you can set brightkite up to post to twitter, pics, location, notes. So technically yes it could manage twitter for you to some extent. It is different in that is set up by the location you determin. You can try it and then delete it if you dont like it.

| I am trying out the twitter app for the phone. what is the advantage of this? does it eliminate the sending of a text message?
