| i hate the fact that America is obsessed with celebrity stuff....who cares what britney or lindsey (well maybe lindsey, shes hot) does with their free time...and the whole paris hilton stuff, shes famous for no reason at all....she started showing up to parties, sleeping around and got famous...
that being said...i think that Heath was a good actor, really liked brothers grim....i only kinda care about this as he wasnt one of the actors that was always like look at me, look at me, im perfect, look at what im doing for the environment so i can become more popular and get a bonus check from toyota for selling hybrids...So this is one of the few younger actors that i say RIP to...

The thing is, he always plays Jack Nicholson, never the actual character. He's always kind of greasy, sullen, and weird, until he snaps at the end. If he feels like changing it up a little, he may not snap at all, or do it early on, but he's always greasy, sullen, and weird. But either way, the moment I see him on screen, he totally fails to convince me that he's anyone but Jack Nicholson, and I set my mental "How long till he snaps?" timer.
As for the discussion regarding Lohan/Spears/Paris/Olsen twins.... Blah, Blah, teen actress... Drew Barrymore did it better than any one of them could.
Paris Hilton is famous, because she's Paris Hilton. Not because she was in a movie, or had a singing career or some identifiable/attainable/striven for talent/adventure. Solely because she was born famous, she remains famous. And it's the American passion of eagerness to see other fail, that keeps her in the limelight.
We all knew that given enough time, the pressure cooker of growing up center stage would hit Britney. I do think that Federline has come out of this in a better show than she has. That McDonalds commercial was pure genius.
Any bets on Dakota Richards?

One of my favorites is "Batman". Jack Nicholson's Joker was true the classic Joker from the Batman comics as well as the 60's TV show. Which in my opinion was what Tim Burton was looking for. However, Christopher Nolan is trying to show us the more darker side of Batman. Which is the current trend of the Batman books over the 2 decades (damn I feel old saying 2 decades). I thought Christian Bale would do well as Batman, but he is actually doing better than expected.
When the movies closely resemble the books, fans love the movies. The Joker over the last 15yrs. has shot and paralyzed Batgirl, killed the 2nd Robin (Jason Todd), been connected the deaths of Bruce Wayne's Parents, almost killed Alfred, taken over the city's underworld, helped unleash a virus on the city and been the UN ambassador to a Terrorist nation. He is hardcore.

But you have to remember the Heath Ledger is playing the more current Joker. His Joker should be nothing like Jack's Joker.

I used to follow Comics, but haven't since college. Perhaps my most treasured, is the original 4 issue Wolverine series from '82.
As for Batman and the Joker, I was referring to Jack as the Joker. Take a look at the Shining, or Witches of Eastwick, even his realy early work. He always plays the Same character. Much like the joke about Morgan freeman as "The Narrator".
I'm seriously looking forward to seeing Heath as the Joker, if only from internet Hype and the early looks at trailers. I think that following Frank Millers process of "The Dark Knight" is an excellent way to go. The problem with Superman, is he doesn't really have a Flaw. The true successful and believable characters/Heroes always have a flaw. With Batman doing everything he can to save Gotham, the eventuality of him getting angry is very real.
This is of course steering the original topic off course (albeit in an enjoyable direction).
Perhaps we should be discussing wether "A Knight's Tale" was excellent or blasphemous. Was it a story set to Modern music, or a Fariy Tale gone Bad.
I do hate to think that a person who was a good actor (revised from great) and a good human being, as well as a celebrity others should take a lesson from, is now gone from this earth. As for Celebrities doing it right, look at Tiger Woods. He's a guy good at golf and admits that what he is. Nothing more, nothing less.

I'm concerned about Dakota Fanning, who already looks like she has problems.
I agree with where your coming from with Jack, but I still think his Joker was classic. I couldn't compare the two.
Loved "The Dark Knight" story, but hated the art. I'm more a Jim Lee fan. Did you read "Batman - HUSH"? That needs to be made into a movie.
I think it sad when anyone passes, that being said R.I.P Heath
