Has anyone tried one of those referral programs before?

Has anyone tried one of those referral programs before where you supposedly get a free ps3 or other items? This guy at a restaurant I go to frequently was telling me how he has gotten all of this free stuff by getting referrals on certain sites.

Has anyone done this or is it a waste a time? Seems kind of sketchy to me.

i have looked in to it but its alot of stuff you have to do...and some of it sketchy..
sign up and order 3 movies from columbia house
then tier 2 is get a credit card or open a lending tree account to get a mortgage and make a paymet on either
tier 3 is something even more outrageous...i find its just not worth it in the end...

I don't want to advertise and spam so I won't name the site but it actually seems possible. You have to just complete one "offer" that you can cancel the same day. Where they get you is that you have to have 10 other people to do the same thing. I'm still not sold, it seems pretty damn hard unless you have a blog that gets a gazillion visitors per day.

right trying to convince your friends to buy this stuff so you can get a ps3 isnt easy...lol

Doing the referrals used to be much eaiser. I know 3 seperate people that got free (well almost free, they ended up paying $150 or so for the offers) Mac Book Pros. However the site they used to get them recently changed their rules to make it more difficult.

In reality it just comes down to how bad you want it. It's alot of trouble, it may or may not be worth it for you.

FWIW there are a few site which don't require you to sign friends up for stuff. You "just" have to do 10 or so offers yourself.

I have fiddled with these offers and have friends who have delved much farther into them then I have. I have found that even if there is a payoff in the end you could have just bought the free item for cheaper than what it cost doing the things to get it. A lot of jokers on the web are out to make a quick buck and they make money every time someone clicks a link to another page. In my opinion most of these operations will end up just leading you back to right where you started.
