 |  Yeah, my company doesn't recognize it as a holiday either. Saw the movie 'The Great Debaters' over the Christmas holidays and the atrocities that happened in that time are mind-boggling!  | listened to that speech twice today, im just amazed at how powerful yet peaceful his words were...props to all that suffered through that time with him. but man he did have some patience. sprayed with fire hoses and beaten down, and never once lifting a finger or even saying a negative word....

   | i wish there were more people like him. Its not just the south. I live in California and its more than alive. I have heard experiences my Godson goes through just driving to work. He gets pulled over for DWB frequently. Him and my son grew up together and were also born six months apart. My son has gotten pulled over...not nearly as much though. The cops dont take my son to jail but my Godson doesnt get off so easy. oh yes and while my Godson was growiwng up he needed some testing for a possible disability. My friend had to fight for it. Why, the tests were considered racially biased, so the district wouldnt give them to him....couldnt get in the classes w/o the testing! People just hide it here. Its not so in your face or publicly accepted but its alive unfortunately. |
