Default Feeling Sleepy

I've just got back from another 4 hour drive from Kansas City. My in-laws live up there and we do the round trip up to a couple of times a month.

My wife and I try to share the driving but much to her, and my, annoyance I often start to feel sleepy after just a few miles of driving. It's not only when I'm driving either it's also while I'm in the passenger seat.

Does anyone have any thoughts about why this could be? Serious and humouros answers welcome!

Craig

I can drive a truck for 20+ hrs before I get tired, but after 2 I get sleepy in my car. Think its 'cauze they make cars more comfy now. The seats are too soft

Sounds like your wife is boring you to sleep. You should get a new one, j/k.

was gonna say, it sounds like an automatic body response to being in the car with your wife...it happens in males mostly...its a defense system to prevent any of the following symptoms:
nagging
complaining about directions (nagging)
comments on how you looked at that chick in the mall (nagging)
yelling at you on how you treated your inlaws (nagging)

please consult your doctor (Dr. Jack Daniels) if you have any of these symptoms...

i get car sick riding as passenger. Id rather be sleepy.

I think its just the motion....but it would be worth getting a sleep study done. You may have sleep apnea or something that the latent tiredness is kicking in when you are in the car. If your insurance doesnt want to pay for a sleep study, tell them that narcolepsy or some other sleep disturbance runs in the family.

Trying to get a new wife would be more trouble than its worth lol jk

All very funny but it's certainly not a reaction to my wife, I have the same issue with who ever is driving.

I knew I shouldn't have asked though, all this medical talk is getting me worried!

I get cab sick, but not car sick, if that makes any sense. I think its the nauxious combo of the car fumes, the cabbies B.O., and that sweet air freshener that the cabbies buy to cover up their B.O instead of just washing their a$$.
