| Bsod (for those that don't know, that means Blue Screen Of Death :]) and one of the pc's here in the network does that.. the main error is "IRQL_LESS_OR EQUAL"... it started a few days ago and the only thing added to the pc was a usb cable so that the user could download pictures of a digital camera, she claims it started happening before that... and the cable nor camera is not even attached. i closed down Outlook because it seemed to be happening when it was running... and i also tried the repair feature of Office.
kind of lost on this one... that pc has been running fine for 3-4 months.
Google'd it obviously and i find contradicting answers... hardware, overclocking, video drivers... etc.

| I had to fix a few computers with that error. Mostly boiled down to a bad motherboard or a memory stick was bad. Easy way, (if you don't have a contract with a computer company to fix your pc's) is take the memory sticks out & put one in at a time. Always put it in the slot marked "A" or "1" or "Main".. I have seen them all named differently. Just double check that it is the "MAIN" slot (you will be able to tell). If it boots up with the one you put in then boot down and put another one in. If you have problems, then bingo, that's probably it. If it still boots ok then it's dust, dirt or computers just need a general good cleaning. If you only have one stick of memory in the computer then steal one out of one that is working ok.
OR go here http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp
and download this SW from Microsoft ..takes awhile but it's good at what it does and it does, in it's way, check the memory board. Good utility to have on hand. Just follow directions, it's not hard to use.
Good luck |

| Clear as mud? Then plz try opening computer and at least take the memsticks out and to put just one back in at a time. Turn off computer and flip the switch off on power supply (if there is no switch then unplug it and then hit the "on" button for a few seconds and "let in drain".) Ground yourself (hold on to a part of the computer or touch it with the side of you arm), and loosen the clips on each end of the memory stick and pull it out. Some you have to extract from an angle but if this is a newer computer then pull straight up. You can even take a clean eraser and gently clean the metal contacts on the memstick. Try not to "man handle" it and keep fingers on the edges. Make sure you replace it in the "first slot" one memstick at a time. Again, only one memstick then pull one out from a computer that has no memory problems.
Again...good luck |

| Sorry, must have posted at the same time... Yes..this will tell you if there is a problem with the memstick or that there is something wrong with the momboard. I have used this program a lot for memory issues. I am a dos freak too but "they" keep taking away the "freedom" to use it. sigh....
Still good luck and glad you are getting along just fine without me!! LOL
Good luck |

| i hear you on the DOS limitations... w/ w98 i always had at least 2 4dos windows open, XP is less excited w/ 4dos :]
and you did help me dude, with the program.... it should come with ear-plugs 'cuz the user of that pc is now asking every 5 minutes how long the tests will take.. last 3 times she asked i just pointed at my Bluetooth headset, works almost every time :}

| Sorry got tied up at work & then it was time to go home! Long day....
Stop it and should come up with a diag. page to tell you if there is anything wrong with the memstick or momboard. But the longer you run it the more numbers it crunches to look for anything that is going wrong with the hardware. My guess it's the memstick. USUALLY when the momboard goes it takes other things with it (nothing works). I would still do the physical check or taking out and re-inserting the sticks. OH crap, look who I'm talking to! You will figure it out... hang in there.... (OR, sometimes, just SOMETIMES, when the power supply is going bad it can't handle things and you will get errors, too.) Just another thought. ..... |
