it depends from spouse to spouse i guess :} i "forced" the purchase just before my son was born, i knew i would be in second place after he was born, especially bike wise :} i'm lucky my wife likes to ride with me.. (on the shorter trips at least)
I was about to get mine then my wife got pregnant with our second. She already had to give up her convertable with our first so she told me I can get one when she gets a new convertable. I also run a program teaching kids to ride dirt bikes, so I do get to go out and ride dirt quite a bit.
Its a ton of fun. We actually run a program for problem kids (mostly court involved) and use the dirt bikes as motivaters. Its a great program and all sponsored by Honda. They actually donate all the bikes to us. Across the country there are 48 programs and about a thousand bikes at any given time. Then Honda replaces the bikes with new ones every 4 years. We teach safe riding skills, so its more for trail riding then for track riding or racing. I actually like the trails better, its a great stress relief.
