Thats funny, we used to actually run a big community based program for kids on probation, when the kids were involved with the dirtbike program and their caseworkers would go get them to bring them riding, all their friends would say they wanted to get in trouble so they could go too. Not exactly the point of the program

My wife told me after we got married that I should give up the bike until after we have kids. So I sold mine… Fast forward - My second daughter is almost 6 months old. My wife kept her word and is Okaying a new purchase in spring. (waiting for the tax-man to give me some $$ back)

Default 06 Suzuki Burgman 650

I commute 20mi one way everyday on the Burgman. Very economical, fun, practical, comfortable, fast, and simple to operate. I'm a convert from a Honda 1000 custom and a Honda VFR 750 motorcycles. Don't scoff at maxiscooters, they are a pile of fun! Check out burgmanusa.com for a ton of information.

Use my Q with a Scala Rider and it works great.

Smile I didn't mean to kill the thread! Skala Rider Review

I was enjoying the thread and my last post seemed to have killed it. I'm hoping that knowing that a maxiscooter rider is reading it hasn't sent everyone running underground.

If you are using your Q on your bike I can highly recomend the Skala Rider helmet headset. It pairs well with the Q allowing voice dialing and good noise cancelation. The only thing that would impove it would be stereo speakers instead of the single speaker. It would be really nice if I could listen to "stereo" music on the Q while having the phone waiting in the background.

I also just yesterday picked up some $9 wind pants at Target that will make my "Savannah" cold morning commute more comfortable. They will be a good cost effective solution until I can afford a pair of Firstgear HT Overpants. I would really like to have some armor protection on my lower half. I'm wearing a Firstgear Meshtex 2 jacket with liner and it keeps me acceptably warm with appropriate layering underneath.

Enough for now, hopefully the thread will come back to life!

don't worry... i think pretty much all 2 wheelers are of the same "kind", i for one always wave at scooter-riders.. a lot of them are not sure what to do :}

speaking of scooters, i once restored a Zundapp Bella together w/ my brother only to have my sister-in-law smash it into a wall

Do you think riding a scooter is more dangerous than a bike, or about equal? I know its the other drivers you have to worry about. Just curious.

without generalizing too much.. it looks to me like most scooter riders are not sure how to say this (1. English is not my native language 2. i already said they both bikers and scooter riders are of the same kind :} ...but they seems less extrovert (maybe that's what i want to call it :}..

hope i didn't offend someone.

Default Danger Level

My personal opinion would be that there is little difference in the danger level between scooters and motorcycles. It is probably a wash between not having enough power in certain situations (lower powered scooters) and having too much power (superbikes & lack of experience) in other situations. We both face the same dangers from the cages. Experience level in dealing with traffic situations is probably the biggest factor. The two most important factors in my opinion are constantly staying alert to the best defensive strategy in traffic and not making yourself invisible by driving in peoples blind spots.

FWIW, Curt

Default Q on motorcycle

iride,

I wouldn't and don't trust any kind of belt attachment for the Q while riding. The Q goes in a pocket and I can answer and place phone calls with the Scala Rider. I would suggest checking out the Scala Rider if you haven't. It integrates a bluetooth speaker and microphone onto your helmet. Much less distracting than fumbling with a phone and you can store your Q away where it won't get lost. The voice dialing works great and the noise cancelation on the outgoing audio works well also.

Check this out as an option.
