Default Backup Program

This doesn't relate to the Q, but can any of you recommend reliable, easy back up programs to buy (not for the Q, for my desktop) that don't cost more than $25-40? I have an "F BOOK" external drive and my trial on Memo is about over and from reading the reviews, I'm not sure I want to purchase that one.

Any help would be appreciated.

I'd recommend try StoreGrid from Vembu. We use it commercially at work but it's also available for free for home use where I also use it.

Click here to take a look.

I think it depends on whether you want to back up the whole OS or just files. Norton Ghost is for System Restores where as something like StoreGrid is for file based backups.

I would want to use it to backup files mainly. Maybe backup a few programs too. But docs and pics for sure!

Well StoreGrid will definitely do that, we use it at work to back up SQL dB's and then also the application files of or web applications so that if anyone makes a change we can easily roll them back if there's an issue.

And you can backup to an external drive, not just another computer.

Thanks Craig, I've had the "F BOOK" external drive and I could backup my entire computer several times, if not hundreds. It's 120 gb. I'll have to check out StoreGrid.
