Default Why do you use one software over the default?

For example:

Why is Resco Explorer better than File Explorer that already comes with the phone?

Why would you install any schedule management software when it already has calendar functions etc?

Why is Pocket Internet Exlorer better than the Internet Explorer it comes with?

Why would you use TCPMP over the Windows Media it already comes with?

Thanks!

Well I cannot speak to those other programs, but the TCPMP has many more settings and options than WMP. It plays many more file types and plays videos in full screen when WMP plays some files only at half scale. Try it out and you will see.

I just wish that if we choose some other software that we didn't still have to keep the default one's on board bc that takes up limited memory. I dont' think these apps work well installed on a card either do they?

Actually most of the third party programs work fine on the SD card. It takes a second or two more to start them up. There are some programs that are better run on the phone though. I started a thread on this very topic. Sorry I am on my Q and don't have the link. Search and you can find it.

WMP is horrible. Just horrible.

- crappy performance (system resource hog)
- issues with sound not synchronizing with the video
- "full screen" issues
- delay in feedback from button input
- it's WMP

like with the "regular" Windows for a pc, people have been using other programs then the "comes with the package" ones, same goes for the mobile Windows users. plenty of reasons.. some good, some less good but it's still a reason. to comment on one of your questions, i use Resco Explorer because:
1) it's a lot faster. 2) has more options. enough reasons for me :}

If you've ever tried to open the Windows folder, you would know why. It takes an eternity with hidden and system files turned on.

Features that are not available in the built-in software (e.g. custom recurrences, categories, better views). It seems as if MS expects everyone to create appointments from a PC and only view them from their mobile. Not the case for me.

Pocket Internet Explorer IS what comes with it.

WMP won't play the .wav file attachments from my voice mail. TCPMP will.

Do you have a recommendation for the scheduling software?

from what i read here Agenda One and eXtreme Agenda are the most popular.. they both offer trial versions so you can 'test ride' them.
