What's the best way to transfer and view hi-res pictures?

I transferred some using Windows Media Player but either the Q or Media Player compressed them substantially (from 800k to 12k). Some compression is fine but that's a bit much. I'd like to view a slideshow on my Q with the pictures fullscreen and the defaults "Pictures and Video" app doesn't show them full screen. I downloaded the TCPMP which will show pics fullscreen but there's no slideshow function.

Any ideas?
