Default Vista Contact Syncing

I've been using XP and syncing my contacts to Outlook 2002 using Activesync.

I just got a new Vista laptop.

Seems that I can't install Outlook 2002 on it. Well, it installs, but won't run without Outlook Express apparently.

Where do I sync my contacts to? Do I have to/Can I sync to Windows Live Mail or do I need a more recent Version of Outlook? Is there something else I can sync to?

I guess there's no activesync so I just use the built in sync, right?

Any good pages on how to use Windows Mobile devices with Vista?

My understanding is that Outlook 2002 needs the older version 4.2 of Activesync and Vista uses it's own sync program ''Windows Mobile Device Center'' rather than Activesync.
Try a search for outlook, sync and Vista and should find a bunch of threads that should help. I would be sure to read them thoroughly as sometimes some of the posts can lead you astray.

I couldn't find any relevant threads right off the bat.

I see there's this Windows Mobile Device Center that apparently replaces Activesync, but if I can't install Outlook 2002 and don't have a newer version, where exactly do my contacts and calendar sync to? Windows Mail or something else?

I think you'll still need a newer version of Outlook.

If 2003 will install with Vista you may find buying a copy of that cheaper than 2007'

I got Outlook 2003 installed and it synced fine using Windows Mobile Device Center.

Too bad they bundle Outlook 2002 with the phones. That doesn't help any on Vista. Also too bad you can't sync with an alternative program.

Who's your carrier? I hadn't heard of anyone getting free copy of outlook with a phone...even 2002.

Maybe I didn't get it with the Q, I'm not sure, but I did get a copy with my T-Mobile Dash.

Cool nice to hear that Outlook 2003 and up works with Vista and Mobile Device Center although it will probably be a while till I spring for Vista...4 computers times $190 ...I don't think so.
