Very strange text button-pressing problem...

hey, was referred here from howard forums....here's my problem..just randomly when I am pressing a button typing in text...for instance the P button...and the C button particuarily, and sometimes G button, random text will input with spaces...like when I press C...I get with the spaces and everything:

Kq
cn

when I press P I get some combination and the enter key....any ideasas this is driving me nuts. thanks!

i have the same problem with my Q. i dunno what it is. i sent it to motorola twice and they said they could not "replicate" the problem. damn them.

That's interesting. I wonder if keymapping is affected somehow? I had a thought, try the demo of this program:

Even if you don't desire to use the functionality of the program, just install it, and type as you normally would -- There's a chance that it fix the problem. Or at least, provide a workaround...

Or, if that doesn't work, try to remap the keys that are giving you trouble with this program -- simply over-write the letter key with the same letter.... Use this software http://ae.inc.ru/aebplus.php, with this tutorial, if you want: http://discussion.wmexperts.com/showthread.php?t=137112

What mine does is, when I press the "down" key on the navigation pad, it registers as an "8" and then goes into my contacts. It is really weird. I hate it because when I use the phone, I have to avoid using the down arrow. Also, when pressing the number 3, it registers as the number 7.

lol glad to know i'm not the only one....and thanks for the recommendations up there, no luck though. in the second program I couldn't find out how to remap individual letter buttons, it was only for like camera button/start button etc. i can't wait to get rid of this thing of course this had to happen when im out of warranty.

I have the same problem. I did a hard reset on my Q and the problem went away for a while, but it is back. I have not narrowed it down to any specific buttons however. It drives me crazy!! Cant' wait until I can upgrade again.

It's a hardware issue. Mine 4th one did the same thing, I can't begin tell you how much it ticked me off. Before I realized it was a H/W issue, I updated the software on the phone, and the problem remained. I lived with it for a while, but it started to get way to annoying. It was fairly easy for me to replicate the issue. All I had to do was press the "down" key abt. 25 times, and it would insert a "P" or an "I". The "F" key would often replicate the End key. I finally had it swapped out, and am now on my 5th Q. I love the phone, and was not willing to give up on it. Luckily, I work in Network Operations for one of the "big 3", and getting it swapped out was easy.

If you are having this issue, I suggest you do the same. If you sync with an Exchange server, it makes the swap alot smoother

Mine did this, after a hard reset it happened once more. I believe mine was a problem with a program I kept downloading. It has not done it in a long time. The only thing it might do, is the end/power key ceases to function at times

yea mine is definately driving me crazy...im having to find all kinds of synonyms for words with P in them, C in them etc...now the send button doesn't bring up the list of dialed #s either...it does briefly but then defaults back to home screen
