Default trouble installing VZAccess Manager on new laptop

Hi everyone,

I've used my Motorola Q, tethered to my home laptop, for wireless broadband for about two years now. Installation on the home laptop was simple and I've had few problems.

I have a new work computer. I downloaded VZAccess Manager onto the new laptop, and toward the end of the installation, after COM1 through COM20 have been checked for my Q (attached via the USB cord), I get this error: "A wireless phone was not found. Make sure the data cable is securely plugged into your wireless phone and your computer."

But indeed, the phone is connected to the data cable which is connected to the computer. Surprisingly, the phone does NOT charge when connected to the new laptop (but the old laptop, no problem).

In addition, when I first plugged the phone into the computer, I received a pop up that it needed to install "Motorola USB Remote NDIS Network Device" and prompted me to allow it to find it. It didn't, and so failed to install.

Verizon Wireless hasn't been much help and says that I'm lacking Microsoft drivers. My IT department indicates "
You need to install the software/driver for your phone so the computer knows what to do with the new hardware."

Any thoughts? Again, I had nowhere near this problem installing it on my last computer.

Thanks!

Kelly

You need the latest USB Motorola drivers for that laptop. Go to the Motorola website and download the latest USB driver.

It's been mentioned several times here at EQ so if you search you can pull up the link. I'm on my Q rght now and can't remember the link off the top of my head.

Thanks for the two answers I received. Surprisingly, it seems my "problem" (the computer not recognizing the Q) was solved when I attempted to use a different USB cable. I can only guess that my first USB cable didn't fit properly. Thanks!
