Terminal is on a distinguished road
Default tried the guide, but can't get gmail to work!!

This is very frustrating. I recently bought a used Q and today finally added the data plan to my Verizon account and activated the phone. Calls work fine and I'm able to surf the internet too. But Google Mail doesn't want to cooperate.

I've followed the guide on this site and others and everything works fine until I get to the point where it checks my email for the first time. At that point it asks me for my password again (even though I clicked the "save password" box earlier in the setup process. After I enter my password in again it still doesn't work.

Here's how I have it set up:

server type: pop3
network: the internet
incoming server: pop.gmail.com:995 (automatically set up)
require SSL connection: checked (I've tried it unchecked as well because different instruction guides vary on this)
outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com:465 (this was automatically set up as well)
outgoing server requires authentication: checked
domain name: left blank
user name: my entire email address

So am I missing something here? Any help would be much appreciated!

That did it. Seems to work perfect now. Thanks.

Curious that all the installation guides I found out there only refer to pop3. I had to specifically search google for imap4 and the q to find out how to set up that way (directed me to a thread on this board). But it works now and that's all I care about.
