hi all. This forum has been very helpful. Signed up with alltel and got treo 700P it was allright but the palm os seemed limited. Exchanged it for 700wx and the win os seems to complicated. also having trouble using wireless modem. Everyone for the most part here seems happy with their Q. So I am going to make another trip back to alltel. any comments?

For me this phone is awesome. I luv it. I've had very little problems. None that this website couldnt fix. But then again, this is my first smartphone ever. Never had a ppc or a sp. So, ya I luv it.

This depends if you want a PDA with phone capabilities, or a phone with PDA capabilites.

Yep - I have the Q - Wife has the 700wx. Both are nice. Each has there advantages and disadvantages. I wouldn't trade mine with her cause I really like the size. However her battery life is much better than mine... but its bigger.

I had a treo and upgraded to the Q. i was hesitant but cant say that i miss the treo. i dont seem to miss the touchscreen.

Was the Treo running Palm or Windows Mobile? It's easy to compare the Treo and Q if they were running the same OS, but comparing Palm vs WM AND Treo and Q gets even more complicated.

I really missed the touch screen when 1st got my Q (spent years with Palm and writing via grafitti), but got used to the Q (actually don't use the scrollwheel much, most use the D-pad).

I had the Palm OS.

the only thing i miss is that i cant edit tasks. i am now testing extreme agenda in hopes of regaining that.

I disagree with this, but only in relation to Treos. Palm has done *a lot* of work on their Palm OS & especially Windows Mobile devices to make them stellar, easy to use phones.

WM treos for instance, you can start typing the contact's name on the today screen and is searches for contacts, that's not available on other WM devices, but it does exist, as we know, on Smartphones.

The Q wins on Screen (brighter, wider, sharper), thinness and lack of antenna. Treo 700wx wins on sheer number of available applications (threaded SMS being a big one I miss), battery life and speed. If Palm, Verizon releases a WM6 Treo with 320x320 resolution and without an antenna (that part is guaranteed), i'll probably switch. Maybe. lol
