Default Text Messages not deleting

Hi everyone, I've going though most of the 20 something pages of threads about texting, and I haven't quiet seen anyone else have the same problem.

I have a lot of sent messages in my sent box (like upwards of 4k) from the last month. Last night I tried to delete themin hopes of getting some of my phone memory back.

First I did the "clear all messages" which froze the phone. So after I shut it off, and brought it back on, I tried to manually delete like 50 messages. Then go into the Delete Folder and Empty'd it. That seemed to work. so I did that for the better part of an hour.

Then I shut my phone off, cause it was acting very slow - and when I turned it back on, lo and behold! ALL the messages were back in the sent box.

Suggestions?

go to my site
www.scottschrob.com/q/apps.htm
and download the inbox extender and it will put an option under the right softkey for 'delete all' see if this works
but it might appear to freeze the computer if you have 4k of messages...let it go for a bit and see if it does it

That won't delete my inbox though will it? There is stuff in there that I want. (I'm hoping it doesn't..)

I'm trying it right now! I'll let you know how it goes. Thanks!

as long as you are in the 'sent folder' it will delete those only

hmm - just tried it. It froze the phone.

So I shut it off, and rebooted - and ... they are still there.

...and now so is all my deleted email. - strange.

Thoughts?

i really dont know how long it would take
for example if you try to delete a few hundred email in outlook on your PC it would take sometime
so trying to delete 4k sent texts might take a few minutes

leave it for 10-15 and if still nothing then let me know and we can try 1 more solution

do you run outlook at all?

I don't know what outlook is - so I'm gonna go with no.

I think it worked! I left it, and came back, and it went back to the front page screen for a little bit - then I came back again and it looked like they were all gone from the sent file to the deleted.

I clicked on the empty folder in deleted and it studdered for a second, and then it was empty as well.

It says I have 5.11mb of memory more than I had before. (so maybe?)

should I try to shut it off and turn it back on and see if they are gone for good?

This is awesome! thank you soooo much! 1 problem down 2 to go!
