i think the answer to this is no, but just wanted to bump and see if there is a solution.

it is incredible to me that this isn't possible.

Default I think you can

I have been a Moto Q user for all of 48 hours but I too want to do this. I think you can but you have to use two programs to do so.

First you need a calendar program that allows for categories, filters them, displays different categories in different colors, AND uses the default Windows Mobile Calendar database. I'm trialing Papyrus right now and it looks like it will suffice.

Then you have to have a program that will sync multiple Outlook Calendars and make each calendar categories on the Q. I'm trialing Pocketmirror for Windows Mobile. I know it will sync multiple Outlook calendars but by default it merges them into one on the Q Calendar. I'm hopeful that Papyrus will see the different categories and be able to filter.

I'm doing my first sync now. If this works it does mean I'll have to pay somewhere around $70 in software but from the research I've done it sounds like it will do what I want it to do.

Yes. It hasn't been seemless, but it definitly does the job. I'm used to a Palm OS so I am having to endure some differences. Also I sync to multiple PCs so from time to time there is issue with the category names and such, but yes it does work.
