Default Sync with Exchange?

I can't figure this out. I want to sync my calendar with my exchange server at work. I do not want email, contacts or anything else for security reasons, I just want to see my calendar. I don't want to tether it to a comptuer to do this, I want it in sync with the exchange box that has OWA.

A co-worker has a samsung with the same OS as the Q. She can go set up a new account and it asks for the server, etc. and is very intuitive. She can then uncheck everything but the calendar.

Every time I do this it starts setting up a pop email account. What am I missing here? I assume this is the email account I always see on the home screen that is not tied to any real account.

Do I need to download Wireless Sync?

Am I making sense? Maybe not :-)

is there a guide for this somewhere?

Are you trying to set it up on the Q itself? Sounds like you are in the email program & it's just trying to set up a new Email Account...

Try plugging the phone into your computer and using the Active Sync to set up the Q...

Setting up a POP account and setting up an Exchange account are 2 totally different things. POP account is done by going into Messaging - Option - New account and Exchange accounts are setup by going through Active Sync on your Q. Active Sync - Menu - Configure Server.....

Now which one do you want. I know there is many topics talking about this, have you searched?

I am trying to avoid Active Sync. Maybe wireless sync is what I want. I don't want to plug the phone into the computer. Company policy. they do allow syncing via OWA.

I went into Wireless Sync and it wants to download and install. I just want to make sure this is the piece of the puzzle before I do it.

sounds like you are on Verizon?

you should still be able to Setup what you need with the Active Sync Process. there is no need to plug anything in, unless for a charge.

Start
ActiveSync
Menu
Add Server (or Configure Server)
That's where you want to be.

Only other way is with Good or some other 3rd party tool.

He's right--I shouldn't have said "Plug the phone in". You can set up Active Sync without plugging in.

Definitely... you won't have the option otherwise.

You are going to need you exchange server address if you want to do direct push. On the phone open ActiveSync and select menu and add server source. from there you can set your exchange account and select which items you want to sync.
