Default Streaming Video

I was fooling around with my Q today to see if I could pick up any of my (paid) video feeds. I was quite astounded to find that I got Al Jazeera English in full screen video at 500k at www.vdc.com (usually get it at 2000k on broadband). No third party software involved. Just used Internet Explorer. It kicked right into Windows Media.

Can I do this with any other live video feeds? I also subscribe to BBC World TV via Real Audio but am not able to pick up their live stream on the Q. I assume this is the
case for all Real Audio video streams.

I am also aware of another international video subscription service called JumpTV. Has anyone else tried them? If so, can you see their video feeds on your Q?

I use HandiTV from Handango.com and I get streaming from many different channels as well as BBC and ABC News live streaming. Check it out.

I don't know about subscription feeds, but I just heard about Watch Free Internet TV -- a list of online video sources. I tested a couple of feeds (like ESPN) and they played in Media Player.

Are you telling me I can watch ESPN on my Q anywhere anytime for free? I am in heaven! Life with the Q just keeps getting better.

It does not appear to be a live feed. Just recorded clips.

Ah, I didn't compare the video with what was actually on ESPN at the time.

I assume some of the other feeds are live, though.

I continue to be amazed at how well my Q (in concert with Windows Media) handles streaming video. In my initial post, I mentioned paid subscription feeds that I tried to access on the Q. Al Jazerra English (streaming WMV) worked. BBC World (streaming Real Audio/Video) didn't.

But most streaming Windows Media feeds are free. I haven't yet seen any Smartphone portals for streaming video like those mentioned on this board for radio streams. So, finding and picking up these feeds is a bit clunky.

First, go to http://wwitv.com/portal.htm on your desktop/notebook computer to see what's available.
(The site doesn't work properly within Internet Explorer on the Q.) Then open up the site above on Internet Explorer within your Q. Then do a search for the stream you want (e.g., France 24 English.) Click on the link for that entry. Then save that page as a Mobile Favorite.

Click on the web link for WMV streaming and, voila, the portal will kick into the stream for Windows Media. Recent additions to my Q video streaming include France 24 (in both English and French versions), nTV (German news and business channel), CBC's "The National" (nightly Canadian news hour) and a Weather Channel feed.

If there is a more elegant way to do this (or if I am just rehashing old news) please advise. It's just that getting all this (mostly international) TV on my Q is quite a kick. It also provides welcome relief from watching the same old blowhards on CNN, Fox, and MSNBC.

You can easily get video links on your Motorola Q including Al Jazerra, BBC World and many more.

TalkStreamLive.mobi

There is also a link for TCPMP - a free player that handles more stream formats than windows mobile.

I couldn't get ESPN to open. The only thing I could get to work was HSN. It would be really cool if ESPN worked!!

I went to talkstreamlive.mobi and can get great sound - but no video picture. Is there a setting I don't know about?

thanks!

The TV links work with WMP or TCPMP.

What player are you using?
