Strange problem with Q sounds...

I have a weird problem with my Q. My sms message and ringtone sounds aren't going off if the person is not in my contacts list. I have checked that the "generic" ringtone and sms sounds are both pointing to valid sound files and I get sound on contacts that have a Ringer ID set. I'm sure it's just a dumb setting, but I couldn't find it anywhere else so I thought I would ask.

I know I could probably fix it with a master reset, but I really don't want to do that...
