Storage Card not seen - Motorola Q Forum

I just got a 8gb card and phone soes not see it(unknown). Have checked and no update is available from sprint. Has anyone got a 8gb card to work? Is there a way to get Windows Mobile 6 without getting a new phone?

You have to download the SDHC.cab file and load it so you can use an SD card over 2gb. I know it works with my 4gb card, and I've heard about it working on the larger ones.

Did you copy the .cab file to your phone and run it from there? That's how it works.

I unzipped it and I do not see a .cab file only a .exe file. Sorry what am I doing wrong!? Where are you supposed to put it (what file) on the phone? I really do appreciate your help!

I normally put my program install files on my storage card, but obviously you can't. Plug your phone into your pc and copy via usb, anywhere is fine, I would drop it into my documents so you can find it. Copy the whole .cab file and navigate to it with your phone's file manager and load it. the cab files show up as a winrar compressed file, but that file is what your phone needs to load the exe file inside.

WinZip was the problem. Uninstalled and had no more problems. The only issue now is that the phone thinks it is a 4gb not an 8gb. Any other ideas?

Reformat on the Q?

I don't know, even if the phone thinks it's small it won't stop you from loading your media & files via USB from your computer.

I only have a 4gb card to I don't know beyond that.
