Is there any way to go direct to text messages than going to the home page>--Messaging>--A. Text Messages.....etc.

If you're trying to find a faster way to SMS frequent contacts you can assign a speed-dial to each person you SMS alot. Just hold down the speed-dial button and presto a blank text addressed to the appropriate party
