Default Silencing incoming ringtone

i recieve text messages all the time and i can't figure out a way to mute the ringtone as soon pick up the phone. I have read i can use the scroll on the side but it doesn't work. Any other suggestions? any buttons to mute the ringtone?

Sometimes i can read the whole message before it stops ringing!

thanks

The only options for text msg's is create a shorter version of the ringtone. There is no way of stopping it.

Any ringtone software should be able to handle it.

Just use an error message tone. Its like one beep, and you can barely hear it.

...or you could go into your profile setting and just set your "Notification" to vibrate.

Hope that helps

Rotate the wheel to silence it. Don't push it in if that's what you are doing.

That won't work for texttones

It would have been nice if the manual said to rotate the wheel to silence the call - it only says "use the thumb wheel to turn the ringer off" which I interpreted as pushing the thumbwheel which only answers the call. Anyway, now that I've figured out how to silence the ringer by rotating the thumb wheel, is there a way to disable the ability to answer a call by pushing it?

Thanks!

You can set the phone to only answer using the send key. Then pushing the scroll wheel in won't answer. You can also use the right menu button to immediately send someone to voicemail.
