What advantages other than storage space do SD card provide. Do they improve the overall performance of your Q?

Storage is the big one of course, but you can save RAM on your phone by putting things like programs, email, etc. on your SD card instead of your phone. That then improves the overall performance of your Q.

Yes, indeed it is storage space...that can be used to install third party programs so that the main memory (the memory used as RAM) can be as clean as possible.

I guess it depends on your definition of performance. An SD card will increase your storage space but it doesn't make your Q any "faster", in fact running programs from an SD card actually takes a little longer...which I don't mean to imply is a bad thing or a reason NOT to use an SD card.

Unlike Windows Vista, WM5 does not use a memory card to provide "RAM boost".

Point taken...is there a thread in this forum addressing which programs are better to be installed on main memory as opposed to SD and vice versa?

Personally, I install everything on my storage card unless it's something that's tied in closely to the OS, such as .NET cf, wm5storage, registry editor.

Also, you might run into a couple of programs that don't seem to like to run off the storage card, so that might need to go into main memory (profimail won't run, for me, off the storage card).

I know there was a long thread on what size card will work with the Q. having read that, and all the advice that was given, I did get a 4Gig card (NON HC) at Flash-Memory and follwed the advice of formatting at Fat32, putting it in the Q, power cycling the Q and all is well with the extra space.
