Default Scratched, Scuffed Case.. Would This Work?

Geez, I've had my Q for just about 3 months and already the case really looks abused like it's been through World War III ! Cell phones, you drop them, they fall on the ground, slip out of the case.. Maybe it's just me and I'm clumsy, but it seems to happen to every phone I use.. If my poor phone looks like this in 3 months I wonder what it would look like in a year!!
Anyway, saw this web site:
http://cnn.cn/shop/motorola-q-c-22_158.html

A replacement housing for the Q's form factor. But then I thought "Who would do this?" Had anyone actually taken their Q apart? Looks tempting but not with my 10 thumbs... I wonder id this is easy to do?

It's probably not so bad to take it apart. It's pretty cool that for $30 you can tidy up your Q. They have a GeoTrust SSL logo, but it's not working properly.

It looks tempting, but unless I could locate step-by-step instructionsI wouldn't want to risk it..

i had read the post on q users and was tempted to take mine aprt as well. it acutally cam apart very easily. Just 4 torx screws and a very tiny flat head to slowly pop the case apart. i stopped though when I was trying to take the guts out and the screen was a seperate part. i was afraid of tearing the connecting "strap" so I went ahead and put it back together. i think i might try again this weekend. i think a black q would be neat as hell. The only thing is your warranty is most certain to be void so you would have to have a stock case should you have a warranty issue.

Sounds like a good begining but i would be sure to read all the way through since this guy's case is already flaking off.

Thanks for the link. They should definitely release a black case from the factory.. it really makes the Q look super slick! =)

the problem is, he dyed it without sanding first. the paint already on the case is blocking the dye from getting into the plastics pores.

sand the outside with 320 grit sand paper then clean it off with rubbing alcohol. after it dries you can apply the dye. i did this to my old v3c and it worked perfect. even if the phone got scratched it would not show since the first many layers of the plastic had been impregnated with the dye.
