There is software out there that wil do that. I can't remember the name of it off the top of my head. There is a link to it either or over at qusers. Run a search for it.

Thanks for the suggestion to check qusers, but the search tool there is horrible... and I can get no response.

I searched through the last 6 months of posts to see if this topic had been brought up, and I only saw a couple mentions here and there, but no absolute answer. Nor any suggestions on how you might do this.

I believe I have found where the Q saves those files when I Sync it to a PC, but there are no programs I can find that understand how to read the files. This doesn't seem like it would be that complicated, But I have searched many websites today.

Thats why I finally figured I would ask the forum.

we have access to the Q via Windows Explorer, we can tweak the registry, add ringtones, pictures, access e-mail, but we can't access / find where text messages are stored locally (there's no way texts are stored / accessed via network server)?

someone has to know, somewhere? what does motorola / VZW / microsoft say?

Informative

I was just going to ask this question again and I found the answer! I have Jeyo's extender (see below link) to backup my TXT/MMS & SMS messages, and it's free (for 15 days, then you have to register)!
I downloaded the program, installed it to Microsoft Outlook, and told it to receive all messages from my phone (I had over 1,000 at this point). Couldn't be simplier.. Well, if it worked for Thunderbird I'd be happier, but this is better than nothing, thats for sure!

Hope this helps someone [like me] out there!

I wanted to preserve some text messages from a friend who has passed away. In my search I found this thread. I eventually just forwarded my text messages to my email and then saved them in a word file. This method does not save the date and time of the original message though.
