Default Request for Input Regarding Personal Experiences

I purchased a Motorola Q through nTelos in November. My experience with the phone and/or cell service has been a negative one. My problems are intermittent, but frequent enough to provoke me to seek an exit from my nTelos contract and a refund of my deposit. The problems I'm experiencing include:

- The phone doesn't ring when a call comes in.
- The phone doesn't notify me of new voice-mail.
- SMS messages aren't delivered within a reasonable time, or aren't delivered at all.
- Calls aren't terminated immediately upon pressing the End Call key.

I'm interested in learning of your own experiences with this phone and/or nTelos cellular service.

1&2 may be fixed by insuring you have the sounds set correctly

3 is a carrier issue

4 thought the end call button was supposed to end the call

overall I like the Q, sure its got quirks but most things do

#1&2 like mike said are probably sound problems
hold in the scroll key and scroll up to increase the sound on the device

#4 the end key will end the call but its a slight delay in doing so. pressing it 3 times will end the call and bring back to the homescreen very quickly

and if it still doesnt work then you should bring it back

I generally face these concerns only from people whom are first time windows mobile users. they feel that the OS is a bit sluggish or difficult to manage. moving to a smartphone or ppc device is a big jump and takes some acclimation time. if you think about it the Q is essentially a faster computer than the first 386 I ever owned and though its less buggy it still is a windows machine. the voicemail and sms stuff is clearly carrier side issues if the sound isn't loud enough that would be a settings issue. the unresponsiveness of hanging up is something of a WM quirk. overall I hope you'll give the Q and windows mobile another shot.
