Default Replacing housing

I dropped my Sprint (gray rubberized) Moto Q from about 6 feet onto solid concrete not too long ago, and lets just say that the outcome wasn't pretty. It's dinged, rashed, gouged, and scratched on basically all four sides of the phone, and I'm not a very happy camper at the moment.

I did some searching and found out I can go on www.cnn.cn and just buy the housing, which made me quite pleased. I plan on buying the unbranded, gray rubberized housing, just because the black has Verizon written all over it, and it's almost double the price.

So, my question: Do I have to disassemble everything inside the Q and swap it over to the new housing or can I just remove the back cover on my current Q, place the new back cover on, and then remove the front cover, and place the new front cover on?

I don't want to chance anything breaking.

Yeah, that's what I originally looked at, but it's the opposite of what I want to do.

He disassembled the entire Q from the old case and swapped it back in order into the new one. I'm hoping for a much more simplified solution. I want to remove the back cover, put the new one on, then remove the front cover, and put the new one on.

I hope so too. It'll take me a week or so to order the new housing since I have no money (I'm only 16, heh).

If I can't do it the way I mentioned, then I'll just do it the way in that one tutorial. I'm pretty good with electronics, I just have to make sure I'm doing everything perfect and with a careful, steady hand. It's a good thing these components are cheap as hell, too.

I've got a couple more questions for those who know. The gray housing doesn't come with the emblems, microSD/headphone jack covers, the latch for the battery door, vibrating unit, and the rectangular flash cover thing. It also doesn't come with "foam insulation pads" and screw grommets.

Are the insulation pads big and noticeable? Or do I have to hunt around the innards of my Q to find them?

I know that cnn.cn has a video tut of the removal of everything. I don't know I did not try the housing replacement because of my case. but as for the gromets and the other pieces you will have to take the old ones from the old phone (try to get the same color) and then reglue or re tape it on. you need the 3m stuff for that.
Hopefully you succedd with what you are trying to do.

I did razrs, v710s and almost all the motos and this seems to be the easiest exept for the slvr to change over things. just make sure you don't damage any ribbons.

Found this one here but it is for the Q9 so don't know http://www.everythingq.com/forum/mot...ent-15870.html

here is the videos not that clear but something

Exclamation Really really need help...

Okay so I got the housing and figured out how to put it back together the correct way... But as soon as I turned my phone on I found that I had absolutely no SERVICE... So then I looked back on the back part of the old housing and saw there was this little metal thing that bent around the upper left part of the phone. So I went to take it out and put it on the new faceplate and I broke it... I'm not sure if the little metal thing really is the problem but I need to know why I am now not getting any signal... If someone could please help I would greatly appreciate it...
