Default Ramblings about PUSHing

Hi.

My goal is to get my email pushed to me as quickly as possible, without totally ruining the battery life.

I have previously setup a IMAP account from when I has a Treo. I have two email addresses forwarding mail to this IMAP account.

I have been experimenting with these two ways of getting my mail pushed:

1) I'm using FlexMail 2007 and added the IMAP account and set the IDLE settings.

2) I setup trial Exchange/ActiveSync accounts with mail2web and 4smartphones, and configured the Q to test them.

FlexMail, when it works, is much faster. The mail usually arrives within 10 seconds. The problem is... it doesn't appear to always work. There's a diamond in the UI next to the inbox folder, and when things are working, it's green. But when it's gray, it's no connected. And if goes gray a lot, and I fon't know why. I don't know if it's an issue with FlexMail itself, or the IMAP account I have.

I wonder if anyone else has experienced this problem.

ActiveSync/Exchange always works, but the mail usually comes 3-5 minutes later. Is this normal? Or should it be coming in much sooner?

I think FlexMail is a much better mail program than Outlook Mobile (or whatever it's called).

In summary...

Does anyone have any experience with FlexMail and the green/gray diamond IMAP IDLE issue?

And, should my Exchange server ActiveSynced email be coming in faster than it is now?

Bonus question: Does anyone know which is better on the battery? FlexMail using IMAP IDLE or Exchange ActiveSync.

Exchange should be the fastest. My Exchange email (almost) always hits my Q before it lands in my PC inbox. I am using my employers hosted Exchange account.
