Question about backups and restoring them

I have Sprite and have several backups of my Q and I was just wondering, what happens if for some reason have to replace your Q. Can you restore those backups to your new Q? What about your purchased and registered programs, how can you get those copied over to your new Q.

And finally, what if you upgrade to a newer version, with a new OS than you had on your original Q, can you transfer you purchased and registered software over to it? Like going from WM5 to WM6.

I am not looking at changing phones right this minute, but just starting thinking about this.

Thanks, I really didn't think about that. I just consider everythingq.com my one stop shop for 'everything related to q'

I use sprite and have updated Q to new Q but when i got my Q9C I didn't even consider using the backup because some apps don't work on WM 6.0 and some I didn't need or want.

I did do incremental backups periodically while reinstalling. That way I could go back if something wasn't working.
