I find the quality to be pretty bad indoors. It seems like many pics that look good are taken outdoors. I have not had a chance to do any outdoor pics though. In general most low end digital cameras do better outdoors.

Well basicly... It's not sopost to be amazing - it's a 1.3 megapixel phone. This is lower quality than a standard picture.

Also the zoom is not going to make the quality any better (if not worse) it's digital zoom, not optical. that means that software is enlarging things - not the lens.

I often wonder if when people complain about how bad the camera is in a phone if they also try to make calls with their camera.

As someone's dad once said, "There's a right tool for every job".

Ditto, I have a camera for quality photos, but for a camera in a phone, I find the pictures amazingly good. Nikon, Canon, etc still sell cameras and the quality of them has signicantly improved from a few years ago.

My camera keeps freezing up. When I take a photo like say a picture off the TV the actual picture that is taken is a few frames later. I delete the pic then a few seconds later the phone and camera freezes up. I tried killing all the programs in task manager but it sill freezes. I have to constantly remove and replace the battery to reboot the phone. This sucks, Any clues?

Oh and kinda off topic, what is the clientshell.exe that keeps popping up in task manager and what are those two arrows beside the battery? I sometimes loose my antenna icon and those two arrows pop up. I looked in may online manuals about the icons but they don't discribe the arrows.

I think the camera is actually pretty good. I wish it would have a feature to work with those who have unsteady hands (like myself). But other than that. They show up just as good as my Nokia 6632 camera phone and I think the pictures that my Nokia take are absolutely gorgeous for a phone.

Have you reset the size and quality from the default settings. As I recall (it's been some months) the default is for low resolution. As for the freezing up, I have never experineced that problem.

Yes, I have set the resolution to 640X480 and killed all programs. As of now I can only take one or two pictures then get out of the program and reload the camera again. Good thing I don't use the camera allot. I am not about to reload the OS just for the camera, I have to many good hacks on it. As for the hacks I don't think they are the culprit either, they aren't extreme (Facade, Fizz Weather, Q Speed Hack). thats about it.

Are you on the latest firmware (MOL2)? Also, if you want better pictures, you can up your resolution to 1280x1024... you just need a steady hand :-). I think the two major detractions from the Q phone is it can't handle "close-ups" (my wife's V has an adjustable lense to take photos of business cards and automagically create contacts out of the information on the card via OCR.... the Q would just see a blurry mess when you get that close) and the "grainyness" in low-light situations.... but for a cell-phone, I've always been very impressed with the quality of shots in ideal lighting conditions.
