So last week my family was passing around this nasty bug and my wife caught it on Friday so I took off work and stayed home with her and the kids. After dinner I was washing dishes and heard my wife getting onto our two year old son that was trying to get a glass of water that was left on the table. He was not listening so went over to get him and saw my Q top side down in the glass of water so deep it covered the screen and almost touching the buttons. I quickly turned it off, pulled the battery and started blowing the water out of it. I went upstairs to the bathroom and continued to blow the water out of it and then opened the memory cover on the side and another gallon came out of there. After I felt all of the water was out I took the hair dryer on low and started fanning the Q. I left the phone alone for about two hours and then went back to turn it on and was surprised when the screen came on and said "Verizon" but then the screen started bugging out and it shut off. Well I posted on here last week that I was having some problems with my phone not allowing me to make calls and that night I called Verizon and they said I had to do a full reset of the phone back to factory settings. I decided the day after my phone went for a swim I would take it back and say that it is not working at all now. Luckily the tattle tale dot did not get wet. Well on Saturday and most of the day on Sunday the phone worked sometimes until Sunday afternoon it reset itself and for the past three days has been working like it did when it first came out of the box. So the short of it is if your phone is having some problems it may just need a bath like mine and then go through a reset and it will work like a champ. I still think I may take it back though just before the warranty expires just in case. CYA.
Man I was scared. After it happened I came on here to the Market Place and started shopping. Luckily I did not have to buy anything. HAHA
One thing though that is making a little worried about taking it back to Verizon is the battery has a tattle tale button on it and it has one little bittie pink dot on it. I have never seen a button on the battery before. I wonder how much they factor the battery in the replacement of the phone?
but uhm should we start suggesting members to dip their acting up Q's in water ? :}[/quote]
It worked for me HAHA. I am sure now though we need one of the fast talking voice over guys to say a little disclaimer for everytime someone clicks on this thread.
contrary to popular belief, electronic equipment operates on smoke...not electricity. Once you let the smoke out it doesn't work. The better quality it is the more smoke can be released before it quits working.
Some years ago, while working at Radio Shack. I sent a cellphone out for repair and the best description of the problem that the customer could come up with was "smoke came out and it stopped working." so I put that on the repair ticket. Several days later, it came back with the repair tag stating "put smoke back in. Operating correctly."
