Default problem with bluetooth

Help! I'm on my second Q and three headsets, two were jawbones in one month. I will hear it ring in my headset, I'll push it and there will be no sound. I pick up my phone and the sound will be there. The phone still is in headset profile. This is not all the time, maybe 10% of the rings. at first we exchanged phones, still did it. Then I bought a jawbone, still did it. so I replaced it. And it is still doing the same thing. So when my phone rings even if I have my headset on, I have to grab my phone in case my headset don't work. It is so inconvenient. Does anyone know is this a problem with the Q.

When you are in a call have you tried moving the jog wheel up (the knob on the right side of the phone). The front of the phone should have a meter that says "Earpiece"...that's the volume of the headset.

it only changes the volume on the phones ear piece. also sometimes in the middle of the call it will switch over to my earpiece, without me touching anything

Do you know what software version you are on? When you are getting sound through your headset, it should change the volume there and not on your phone.

Also, go into your Headset profile in "Settings" -> "Profile" and make sure that "Ring Volume" is set to 4 and your other volume settings are at 3.

Also, are you using a Motorola headset or a different brand? And I don't think you said if you were using a bluetooth headset or a wired headset...

If you are using a wired headset, it could be that your headset jack is dirty or shorted out.

i have a wireless earpiece. It's a jawbone. I bought it at the verizon store. I'm not sure if it is a motorola or not. I have my all my volumes on 4 or loud.

You don't have a lot of florescent lights around you do you? Too much interference could be causing problems. If you tried talking on it with the phone a few inches away from the headset, I guess it could rule out this one.

Also, it would be good to see if you can test it with a Motorola headset. I've heard people say that they had problems with non-motorola headsets on their Razr.

And for what it's worth, I've had bad experiences with bluetooth headsets going bad on me (bad batteries, flaky connections, etc). My current headset and the first headset that I got that didn't die on me within a few months was actually a Motorola H670 that I got as a football promotional at Wal-Mart for ~$35. And I didn't buy cheap ones before the 670...I actually had an HS850 (still have it, but it won't keep a connection with the phone for more than about a minute now).

First make sure you have the latest firmware on the phone. That plays a big part as BT was improved along the way. It sounds like a pairing/BT problem. Dropped and delayed BT connections are common. I had a Moto HS850 and everytime I answer it would take a few seconds before we could hear each other. Every conversation would begin as, HELLO HELLO HELLO... I finally lost the HS850 and a friend gave me a new Moto H375 which is considered a cheapy headset. Wow it works great. No delay when answering. better volume, better battery life, easier pairing, battery level indicator. So what I'm saying is your problem is not acceptable. google your headset to see if others have the problem and it's just a POS.

re-pair your headset with the phone, delete all headsets...then repair the headset you want to use...you might have your old headsets on the phone, and its trying to connect with one that is not there...

The problem IS your Q or rather the Q in general. Jawbone is not compatible with the Q, neither is the Jabra BT135. There is a thread on the net for this but I am too lazy to look it up right now. I personally have tried 11 different headsets and have narrowed it down to 2 that have worked FLAWLESSLY for me:

Plantronics Voyager 520, Walmart $68
Jabra JX10 (2), Bestbuy on sale $59

I ditched the Jabra however because of the thin ear ring and lack of ear canal style ear piece. The Plantronics is the best I have come across yet.

I wouldn't say so much that it is the Q (at least when the jawbone is concerned) the jawbone (at least the first gen version) was basically made for the iPhone and AT&T
Aliph's (the manufacturer) tries to write this off as differences in bluetooth radios between CDMA and GSM units)
Recently they released jawbone version B (mentioned elsewhere on this forum several times)
Personally I use an H800, works great (no one ever notices that I'm on a headset)
Also used the H700 before that, also good (but kept turning on in my pocket)
