Default POP3 Config: Time Interval / Sound

Hello, great site. I’ve enjoyed reading.

I have toyed with using either wireless sync or individual pop3 accounts to check my pop3 mail. I prefer using pop3 setup since it allows my various accounts to be organized in folders and allows me to reply with the appropriate reply address of that account. However, there are two minor issues that I’m hoping a registry hack or some other means of tweakiage is available for.

When using POP3 accounts on my Q (not Outlook wireless sync)

1.)POP3 Server update interval.
a.This is set to 15 minutes (same timeframe using wireless sync). Would be great to adjust this to 5 minutes or 1

2.)Sound is played when the server is checked for new mail (I think).
a.)This sound seems to be played every 15 minutes, and is really annoying, especially when listening to music in my car. I haven’t tracked down which wav file this is, yet. However, I do have Exclamation, Question, and Warnings all set to 'none' in sound config.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. I imagine there has to be a registry key for both this update interval and sound file.

Thanks,

John

The sound you heard every fifteen minutes is probably the Unread Message Alert. Go to Start->Settings->More->More->Unread Message Alert and turn it off.

Thanks! I bet that was it.
Now, if only someone could find a solution for the pop3 server update interval, seems like I'm not the only one keeping my fingers crossed on this one.
