Default PocketDivXEncoder

I use this program to make avi files to play on TCPMP. I've used it for about 5 movies that I own and it has worked very well. I borrowed a bunch of bootlegs from my friend yesterday and I was able to get them to .vob files but when I tried to use the Encoder it'll get to a certain percentage complete for the project and crash.

Any ideas? Could it simply be the fact that I used bootlegs?

Does the program you use have a copy buffer you can watch to see what is happening? Also what type of files are these that your friend is giving you?

I'm able to use DVD Decrypter to get the files from the DVD to the .vob like any DVD I've purchased. PocketDivXEncoder gives you "Encoding streams" (a %), the total progress percentage and speed in fps, no buffer.

I see, so you are just ripping directly off the DVDs......Why do you rip to .vob formats though, wouldn't it just be easier to encode as xvid/avi files?

I actually never tried using the Encoding program to go from DVD to the avi...I was following a tutorial from qusers.com...I'll try that though

Gave that a shot and had the same problem. Got to 86% and it froze up just like before. However you mentioning to encode straight from the DVD saved me some time.

Thanks for the help but problem still unresolved!

Well, im glad I saved you some time. As for the other problem, I don't really know what else to suggest, it can't be the DVD, because obviously its final product.....so it could be the burner, but I doubt that's the case if its encoding that far and stopping......so that said, you might want to try another piece of software to see if you can get the same type of scenario to work....
