Question Phone / Time sync

Is there a way to sync the time of day displayed on the home page with the actual time instead of manually putting in the time?

My Verizon Cell phone, time display, automatically changed wherever I traveled, Eastern, Central, Pacific. It currently is set like my desktop and needs to be changed manually whenever I cross time zones.

Thanks

The time zone you have set, as you have pointed out, determines the time displayed on your smartphone. This is to keep all your comm synchronized. i.e. if the time were to snchronize locally, and you use wireless sync with your exchange server, the server would get confused if the timestamp on an email were in the future (or past). Most people would prefer it to retain your home time zone, so all comms would be synced. I guess this is widely accepted as the proper protocol, as all smartphones that I know of work this way.

It would be useful for some to be able to turn this feature on/off I guess.

Other phones automatically pick up the time directly from the network and over the air waves. It would be a nice feature.

Yeah, my friend's TREO has the option to use network time (auto time zone switching) or the internal clock fixed to a time zone, my wife's Blackberry is like the Q, no option, uses time zone. I know most (if not all) regular mobile phones use network time.

Actually ours is a hybrid of sorts, uses the network to get the time but then adjusts it to your time zone setting.

What really would be great is to be able display the actual time zone your in and have it update accordingly and also your "home" time zone on the Home page....
