One Q, Two Computers - How do I set up ActiveSync? - Motorola Q Forum

I have ActiveSync set up to run on my work laptop (and it works fine), but I would also like to be able to use PDAnet on a secondary desktop system that I have at home. PDAnet requires that the Q be connected using ActiveSync. So I installed both the PDAnet desktop client AND Activesync on my desktop system, but I can't make the computer "see" the Q. I don't really want to syncronize any data from my home desktop, I just want the device connected and visible on the second machine.

Does anyone know how to set that up?

I have active sync installed on three computers. Only really sync with my work computer for Outlook information. The other two computers (home and other laptop) when I connect the Q with the cable it starts active sync but before it opens I just cancel. Computer can still see the Q and I can use the explorer feature to move files. The Q aslo shows up on the computer as device.

How about this one: I've had my Q setup on my desktop for a few weeks... Now, I got a new laptop with VISTA on it & I want to switch over to use that machine. I have the Mobile Manager installed, but no such luck. Any ideas?

I have seen at Circuit City and other stores selling a packaged cable for transfering data over to your new Vista Computer.

At work I sync to my PC with cable to update calendar, contacts, and tasks. I connect to the work exchange server to do e-mails when I want to. Active sync will not let me do both to each. Maybe you will need to connect to your old computer and delete mobile device and then try to sync with the Laptop running VISTA.
